Compound: The Family Chase - Parenting Twins

*Restlessly pacing back and forth in the living room of the quarters he shared with his loving breedmate Tavia, he considered what had happened between the twins over and over again trying to figure a way to settle the sibling banter in a fair manner. He knew, as a brother, that Aric couldn't resist the temptation of teasing his sister, but at the same time, he knew that there are just certain things you don't say to a female and "those pants make you look fat" was one of them. Finally coming to a rest beside the couch, he was about to give up when he heard the door handle turn and his breedmate walk in* Tavia, Baby, where have you been?

  • Tavia Chase *Walking into the room, she smiled at her mate.* Hi love. I was looking over a few things and needed to go to the library. *Stopping next to him, she slipped her arms around her mate and looked up at him* What's on your mind Sterling?

  • Sterling Chase *Letting her touch calm him a little, he released the breath he was holding and turned, framing her in his arms to explain the situation* The kids were at it again. Something about fat jewels and small pants, I don't know *leaning down to kiss her forehead as she smiled up at him* You're better at these things than I am.

  • Tavia Chase Fat jewels... small pants... *She repeated his words, and couldn't help but laugh.* Ok, from that piece of information, I'm guessing that Aric said something about Carys having fat pants and Aric has small jewels. *She stopped for a moment and made a face before laughing again.* You aren't bad at these things Sterling, you just have other things you are better at. Where are the kids now? My goodness, I feel like they are 5 yrs old again and we have to separate them. One in one chair, and one in another.

  • Sterling Chase *Feeling his lips pull to a slight grimace* Imagine the chair scenario, but make it their rooms. I didn't know what else to do. I couldn't punish Aric because, well honestly, it was kind of funny. I couldn't punish Carys either though because she was retaliating for something he apparently did to start it *thinking back on the situation* I don't remember what they were bickering about at the start.

  • Tavia Chase Knowing the two of them like I do? I would have to say that one or both of them made a comment and it snowballed from there. *Pushing up onto her tip toes, she brushed her lips over Sterling's* I'll go find them and see if I can get it all sorted out. Will you be here when I get back or are you on patrol tonight?

  • Sterling Chase I was granted the evening off in order to spend time with my family *growling a little with interest at the teasing touch of her lips* You can go deal with the offspring and I'll be right here, waiting not so patiently for your return *smiling and giving a gentle kiss of his own*

  • Tavia Chase *After promising a hopefully quick return, she walked down the hall to their daughter's room. Knocking on the door, she called out to her.* Carys? May I come in?

  • Carys Chase Mom? Yeah, doors unlocked! * Pushing the dirty clothes off of her bed onto the floor where her mother wouldn't see them, Carys straightened the bedspread and sat down as her mother walked in. * Hi, Mom. What's up?

  • Tavia Chase *Closing the door behind her, she sat down next to her daughter.* I talked to your Dad. He said you and your brother were exchanging words. He mentioned fat pants and small jewels. Care to tell me bout it? *She tried to hide her smile, keeping her laughter at bay.*

  • Carys Chase OH, that..* She smiled at her mom and shrugged. Rolling her eyes, she took a deep breath.* Aric and I tease each other all the time, it's no big deal. Really, Mom it's fine. I love Bub even though he smells and is a complete Dork. * She laughed a little.* Dad just doesn't want to see us fight and, really we weren't. I promise.

  • Tavia Chase No he doesn't, although you two haven't really fought in a long time. He wasn't exactly sure what sparked the whole thing, but judging by his comment, I think I'm okay with not knowing. *Standing, she leaned down and gave her a hug* Just remember, my darling daughter, that boys do smell, but it's something we have to get used too. *Laughing, she walked to the door.* Oh, and Carys? Please pick up the dirty clothes you tried to hide from me. The hamper isn't that far away from your bed. *Laughing, she walked out in the hall and headed down to Aric's room.*

  • Carys Chase Okay mom. * She smiled and shook her head, watching her mother walk out of the room. Scooting off of the bed she walked around it to pick up her clothes and stuff them in the hamper by her bathroom.*

  • Tavia Chase *Stopping at her son's door, she could hear the video game he was playing through the door. Knocking, she called out to him, just as she had done with his sister.* Aric? Would you mind putting Mario Kart on pause or a few minutes? I'd like to talk to you.

  • Aric Chase *He hit the pause button and took a deep breath* Yes Ma'am, come on in. *He dropped the controller and got up to hug her as she came through the door.*Hey Mom. What's going on?

  • Tavia Chase *Closing the door behind her, she hugged her son* Oh not much. I just got done talking to your sister, and thought I'd pay you a visit too. I think I need to put you two in separate time out chairs after talking to your Dad. Care to share your side?

  • Aric Chase *he chuckles again remembering it* Eh, it wasn't anything Mom. We were just letting off some steam. *He looks sheepishly at her* Sis and I pulled the twin thing on him. I know we shouldn't have but he got so baffled and jumbled and I 'bout fell over laughing. *He took her hand between his and looked into her eyes* But there was no harm done, Carys and I are fine. I promise. She is getting stronger, quicker. I am proud of her. I just have to see how fast I can set her off sometimes. Still such a firecracker.

  • Tavia Chase I know you are. Like I told your sister, based on the what he told me about fat pants and jewels, I'm okay not knowing what started it all. *She smiled and shook her head* I know both of you do that just to see the vein in your fathers forehead pop out. *She laughed, knowing her kids knew exactly what they were doing and how to make it play in their favor.* You are so much like your father, it amazes me. *Hugging her son, she walked to the door.* Go play your game Aric. I'm going to go tell your Dad everything is okay. *Pulling open the door, she walked back to her quarters where Sterling was waiting for her.*

  • Aric Chase *He walked her to the door, smiling* Thank you. He was a bit...peeked. *He watches her head down the hall before closing his door. He returned to his seat and picked up the controller, resuming play*
