Compound: Blade Work

*He sends a quick text off to Elise* TXT: I require your assistance, please. Meet me in the training room.SND *then he prepares one for Carys* TXT: Think I might be in trouble and need a witness, please come to the training room if you can.SND. *Grabbing his new throwing blades, he heads for the training room to prepare*

  • Elise Chase *Looking at her phone, her brows furrow wondering at the formality of the request from Aric* TXT ::On my way:: *She headed toward the training room at a brisk pace*

  • Carys Chase * Hearing her phone beep, Carys set aside the book she was reading and grabbed her phone. She laughed out loud, wondering when was her twin NOT in trouble? Instead of answering him, she put her shoes on and headed towards the training center to see what was going on.*

  • Aric Chase *Elise walked in with a questioning look on her face* I am frustrated. I got these *holds his blades out* earlier in the week but I can't seem to get them right. I didn't want the guys giving me shit over it so...I figured I'd ask the expert. No one here can come close to your abilities.

  • Elise Chase *Laughing at her nephew trying to butter her up, she picked up one of the blades and held it in her hands* So what do you really need from me, young man? Although these blades do feel good in my palm. A little practice never hurts.

  • Carys Chase *Pushing through the training room doors, she saw her brother and Aunt Elise talking. * Hey Bub, Elise, what's going on? * Crossing the room to join them she saw the blades they were holding and smiled. * Nice, someone got new ones. * Aric handed her one and she weighed it in her hand before giving it back*

  • Aric Chase *he handed Carys the other package and headed to the end of the room to set up the dummies they used for practice* I saw those and thought they would work well for you too. I asked Elise here to teach us how to actually use them correctly. *He returns to their side and picks up one of his blades* I tried them yesterday Elise. I balance them just like you taught me, *holding it balanced in his fingers* but for some reason they just don't fly right. *He turned and tossed the blade at one of the dummies where it harmlessly bounced off and fell to the floor* What am I doing wrong?

  • Elise Chase *She eyed her nephew, still a little confused but took the opportunity for what it was. Time to spend with them. As they had grown older, that time had diminished and she had to admit, she missed it. It was time for Rennie to download that little one. She flipped the blade in her hand, then threw it at the dummy. It barely stuck but it was in there. She had had an excellent teacher the past couple of decades.* Not bad for a first throw. These blades are lighter than your normal titanium ones. The angle of your wrist will be different.

  • Carys Chase * Carys watched Aric and Elise as she opened the package her twin had given her. Taking the blades out, she looked at her brother and grinned. * You knew I've been practicing with Jax and dad, huh? * He didn't have to answer she could see it in his eyes, the bond they shared was strong. Taking one of the blades and setting the others down, she lined herself up with one of the dummies. She wasn't sure if she could throw it like she could the star Jax had given her but taking a deep breath and going over what she leaned from the warrior and her father she flicked her wrist and let the blade go. It spun through the air and instead of sticking in the dummy, it shaved off the top of it's shoulder.* Holy shit Bub...

  • Aric Chase *he laughed at the look of shock on Carys' face* Careful, they are sharp. They are also edged with titanium. I figured you needed something to protect yourself since you don't want me tagging along all the time anymore. *As Sis headed over to pick up her blade he turned back to Elise* The lightness is what drew me, they are barely a few ounces each but they are supposed to penetrate everything short of Kevlar.* He picked up his last blade and turned to her* So tell me. You made it at least stick, I can't even get them to do that.

  • Elise Chase It's because all my blades are lighter. These are going to take a little more force behind it and aiming a tad higher than you normally do so that it arcs down into your subject. It helps to be a little closer too. *Smiling at him, she hoped that the enemy would never get too close but it was good for both of them to be trained in every weapon.* Carys, those are beautiful, just put a little more arc into it.

  • Carys Chase * She beamed at Aric and Her Aunt Elise and nodded. She took her stance and faced the dummies, visualizing where she wanted the blade to go. Taking a deep breath she threw the blade. It cut through the air silently and stuck in the far wall. When Aric chuckled, she burst out laughing as Elise shook her head.* I'll practice more, I swear. * Jogging across the room she retrieved her blade and went back to them, wiping the concrete dust from it on her pants.*

  • Aric Chase *He couldn't help but laugh as Sis stuck her blade in the wall. Elise shook her head and looked away as Carys went to retrieve her blade once again. He listened closely as Elise described what he needed to do, holding his wrist firmly as she went through the motions of the toss she wanted him to try.* Ok, I think I got it. *He turned, checked to see that Carys was clear, and let the blade fly*

  • Elise Chase *Winking at Aric when his blade struck, she threw another one to land close by his.* It's all in the wrist. Now your uncles can teach you about how much force to put behind it. Carys, use a little more flicking action. Yeah, I know the elders didn't teach ya that trick.

  • Carys Chase * Carys sat on a mat nearby, forearms on her knees, blade in one hand.* I just hope like hell I never have to use this, be in the position to use one. I'll practice, do what you and Jax and dad say but still, I really hope I the day never comes that I have to be armed, ready to kill..* She stood up and went back to stand in front of the dummies. Doing as Elise instructed she flicked her wrist and was happily surprised when the blade met it's mark in the neck of the dummy.*

  • Aric Chase *he chuckled as Carys tossed hers and it stuck* Nice shot Sis. I hope you never have to either, *he glances at Elise, remembering what he heard she went through after her son died* but I'd rather know you have the ability to take care of yourself just in case. I really like the feel of these blades though, I think I am going to need a lot more practice with them though before they will be of any use me.

  • Elise Chase *Standing back, she watched the two of them throw the blades a few more times, proud that they had taken the small amount of instruction from her to heart. She looked at Aric and was struck with how much he resembled Camden. She swallowed hard, the pain coming quick as she tamped down on the feelings. Even more glad of the time spent with them tonight, she shook her thoughts away and went up to hug them both.* Love you both. More than I could ever express. Keep up the good work and how about getting my son out for a little bit? He seems to be stuck. Now, I'm going to go play darts with my mate. *Laughing, she hugged them tight and waved as she left the training room to search out Tegan.*

Compound: Daddy Daughter Time

* Sitting on one of the mats in the compounds gym, Carys tied her shoe and looked around. It had been very quiet lately and, most days she had the place to herself. She started to stand when she heard the doors open. Looking over her shoulder she smiled . Her Father Sterling Chase walked in. It had been a while since she had talked to him, with him being busy with Order business. She stood, jogging to meet him halfway across the room. She hugged him tight, not realizing she had missed him so much.* Dad..Daddy, it's good to see you.

  • Sterling Chase *Smiling at the sight of his daughter, he wrapped her tight in his arms and spun her around in a circle before glancing down and grunting with disapproval over the length of her gym shorts* It's good to see you too, Dolly, but must there be so much of you to view? *Gently setting her back on the matted floor before allowing himself a quick and reassuring scan of the training room to ensure they were the only two inside*

  • Carys Chase Dad, really? * Standing straight she held her arms at her sides, her fingertips just meeting the hem of her shorts.* It's not like I'm in my underware, besides, I'm usually by myself when i'm down here. She smiled up at her father and looped her arm through his.* So, now that we have discussed my wardrobe and I got the look..To what do I owe the pleasure of seeing my daddy today?

  • Sterling Chase *Stifling a growl as he became fully aware that there was no chance for him in the battle of the fabric with his beloved daughter* I thought, since I have been so swamped with work, that I would steal a few moments to spend with my family *smiling again as Carys squeezed his arm* You want to show your old man what you've been working on in here?

  • Carys Chase Yes! OMG! Daddy. Jax gave me one of his Shurikin to practice with! * Hurrying over to her gym bag she opened it and took the star from the leather pouch she kept it in. She turned and handed to her father and pointed to the target on the wall. There were some marks in it but more on the wall around it. * I've been working with it and some of the moves you and Aric showed me.

  • Sterling Chase *Nodding with approval and fueled by her excitement, he handed the star back to her and stepped aside* Let's see it, Dolly. If I know anything about my own little one, I know there has been no shortage of practice and determination *feeling proud at the thought* Just like the true Chase that she is.

  • Carys Chase * Carys beamed at her fathers praise. Taking the star she walked over to the tape mark on the floor. Jax had given her three distances to practice throwing the star from. She eyed the target and took a deep breath. With a flick of her wrist she sent it through the air to hit the edge of the target. * I can usually get it closer. Jax makes it look so easy.

  • Sterling Chase *Clapping as he noted the work she had done* That's not a bad start, Carys. Try lining your elbow up with the top center of your target. The star should drop just slightly once you release it. As with anything, calm your nerves and let your body's natural rhythm guide you as when to throw *leading her by the shoulders back to the tape line* Now, try again.

  • Carys Chase * Nodding, she turned and faced the target. Doing as her father said, she threw the star again, this time hitting the top ring of the target. Squealing, she hopped up and down and burst out laughing when her father arched a brow at her. * Yeah, most warriors don't do the squealing happy thing in training do they, daddy?

  • Sterling Chase I vaguely remember hearing Kade do it once or twice, but we're all suspicious he learned it from Niko so, I guess it's safe to say the squealing part is not a common occurrence *loving the joy and happiness that radiated from her* but in this case, I believe it's fully warranted. *Smiling as she twirled around* Don't suppose you're too old to be seen eating an ice cream sundae with your Daddy, are you?

  • Carys Chase Never to old for ice cream, or my daddy's company. * She retrieved the star and put it back into the leather pouch and into her gym bag. Gathering her things she hurried back to her fathers side and again looped her arm through his. She was happy he was there with her, still beaming from his praise and, anything with sprinkles on it would only make the day better.*
