Dare Thorne with Micah Breed *Heading down the
hall, I impulsively decide to turn around. I've been meaning to talk to Micah for awhile about something that has been bothering me. Now's as good a time as any as I'll be going out on patrol rotation soon. Walking up to his door, I knock and wait for him to open.* Hey cuz - got a second? I'd like to talk to you about something.
Micah Breed *Arcing
a brow as I invite him in, double checking the schedule in my head to make sure
I didn't miss a patrol on accident. God my father would kill me* Yeah, man.
Knock some shit out of the way and find a seat *smirking because, as per his
mother's demands, his room was always spotless*
Dare Thorne *grinning
- I knew his room was always orderly. Aunt Elise would
settle for nothing less.* Bro - I just wanted to talk to you about some
problems I've been having while on patrol. I figured being Tegan's
son, you may have encountered the same things. *taking a deep breath, I
continued..* Seems like every time I go out on patrol, someone is shoving me
behind them trying to protect me because of who my father is. It's like they
don't want to give me a chance. We were trained by the best. I know we're
young, but we know our shit. Are you seeing the same thing? What do we do to
get them to let us be true warriors?
Micah Breed *Sitting on the floor and resting my back against the wall* So you're getting it too, huh? The other night I was out on that recon mission and a dog knocked the lid off a trashcan in an alley. Kade jumped about three feet and shoved me back so hard I almost tripped on the damn dog. *Lighting a match and flicking it out* He said Tegan would
cut off his balls if anything happened. I agree we're young still, but I don't
see human teens getting attacked by garbage can lids. *flicking out another
match* It's bullshit. Those fogies are jumpy.
Dare Thorne *shaking
my head and grinning at the thought of trash cans on the attack* I agree. For
fuck's sake, we haven't needed nannies since we were old enough to hunt and
feed on our own. Our uncles are just scared shitless of our dads. Malcolm shoved
me behind him when we encountered Dia at The Dome that time. I understand that they don't want to risk the wrath of our fathers should something happen, but they gotta loosen the apron strings, you know?
Aric Chase *he
makes his way back to his room when he hears voices. Following them to Micah's
door he knocks*
Micah Breed *Trading
a glance with Dare as we both know we're praying our dad's didn't just hear us. Pulling the door open, I find our little cousin Aric standing
there, arcing a brow, I address him* Hey, man *glancing behind him to the
hallway* Where's that hot sister of yours?
Aric Chase *He
grins at Dare & Micah*
Sleeping probably. What are you two up to? Anything good?
Dare Thorne Hey bro - we're just having a bitch fest about our uncles treating us like fragile babies when we're out on patrol. Have you had any problems in that area? Seems like everyone's afraid of our dads and what they would do if we got hurt. Time they let us grow up.
Aric Chase Right?
All the damn time! It really pisses me off sometimes.*He takes a seat* I don't
think it is they are afraid of my Dad so much as Mum, she is wicked
overprotective.
Micah Breed *Flicking
the last of the matches with a smirk on my face* You got that right. *Nodding
up to where Dare is
sitting* Hey, what would you rather do? Admit to Tavia that
you let Aric go
off by himself during a mission, or shoot me in the kneecap in front of Tegan.
Dare Thorne *bursting
into laughter* Are you done with those matches? You're hanging out with Niko too
much! As to your question, well, I'd rather eat broken glass than let either of
those Gen Ones at me! *laughing* I guess everyone else is leery of the Gen Ones
too. How about you guys? Would you want to face my dad, or even my mom if
something happened to me? I figure I'd be dead a year before someone told them
- you guys would just say I ran off! *smirks*
Aric Chase *he
laughs at Micah's
question and nods with Dare's answer.* hell yeah man. Bossman and Tegan scare the hell outa me. But damn, they sure have seen a hell of a lot in their years so I guess it is understandable. Yeah Dare, we probably would! Then run like hell ourselves!
Micah Breed In
their, what, billions of years, collectively? *flinging the empty book of
matches at Dare for
the Niko comment*
Dude, Niko's always got something explosive somewhere. Surprised the guy still
has all his fingers and toes. So get this, I'm out with Hunter one night and things get a little hairy. He runs out of ammo, and had already blown through both back up clips. We're crouched around the corner of a building and he turns to me and says "Stay here, Kid. If you move, I'll kill ya." He hauls his ass off the ground and walks around the corner headlong into enemy fire. To this day I'm not sure if he was protecting me from them, or him. Dude's cold as ice.
Dare Thorne *catching
the empty matchbook and flipping it at Aric*
Oh yeah - the Gen Ones are steely cold. Especially Nathan.
He definitely needs to loosen up. So what do we do? I think they lose sight of
the fact that we're Gen Twos. We may be young, but we have grown up with all
the technologies available, so can outwit most of the idiots we encounter. I
figured if anyone knew how I was feeling, it would be you guys. No way was I
going to talk to my parents about it. I can just hear it now - "Dare went
to Lucan about us like a momma's boy." No thanks.
Aric Chase *catching
the empty book he chuckles* Yeah, I can picture how that would go Cuz. I can't
figure a way around it though. The night Brock, Tegan,
and I ran into the blood hunt, I got sent back to the car to change the damn
tire. Really? Like I couldn't have handled my own.*growls* so, what do we do?
Micah Breed *Arcing a brow at the other two* I have an idea. I say we set up something on our own. Something big. That way we can show them we are ready and we can handle it. Pure, solid, tangible, undeniable truth. No questions asked.
Dare Thorne *glancing
at Aric,
nodding in agreement* That definitely sounds like a good plan Micah.
Maybe if we prove to them finally that we are ok out on our own without having
our hands held, our Uncles will ease up. *standing up preparing to leave* I've
got to head for my work out, but thanks guys, this sounds like a great plan!
We'll get the logistics worked out, and make it happen.
